Vice President Kamala Harris dressed to impress at the first state dinner of President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden since his inauguration. The vice president arrived at the White House for the star-studded dinner on December 1 in a one-shoulder black dress. The top of the dress featured sparkles that sparkled in the light.
Vice President Harris didn’t walk the carpet before the state dinner. Mayor of Houston New Year’s Turner posed with Kamala during the celebrations. He posted a series of photos, one of Kamala, on his Instagram page.
The big event was marked as an attempt to revive US relations with France as both presidents Emmanuel Macron and his wife First Lady Bridget macron, were there. When asked why he chose Macron as his first guest at a state dinner, President Biden loudly replied, “Because he’s my friend.” BBC. Jill later added: “We hope that French citizens everywhere will feel the warmth of our welcome. May our friendship grow stronger, our bonds deeper, and our future brighter as we deepen our partnership.”
Both US and French officials said Vice President Harris is eager to meet Macron during his visit to further develop ties with the French leader, per CNN. The two also joined forces to discuss their respective countries’ space programs. They even visited NASA headquarters the day before the state dinner to discuss America’s commitment to returning astronauts to the moon after the 1972 moon landing. according to a Twitter Video, Emmanuel suggested that the next human should take a giant leap for humanity to become French as he told Kamala, “I have a candidate for you to go to the moon.”
Meanwhile, the heated tent on the South Lawn accommodated the 300 to 400 guests, who said they ate a menu of caviar, live lobster and champagne BBC. The state dinner also included a live music performance by Jon Batistethe former musical director of The late show with Stephen Colbert.
