Jenna Ortega wants Wednesday to be “darker” in Season 2 on Wednesday +2023

Before the series premiere of Wednesday, There were many questions among viewers about how dark Tim Burton’s adaptation would be — especially after seeing the first trailer for the show.

While the series definitely had darker tones, it found a balance that allowed the show to lean towards darker themes without becoming a show that was too mature for younger audiences. However, it seems that the actress behind the series’ title character is hoping the writers will go a little further in Season 2 to make Wednesday even darker.

in one new interview with Weekly entertainment, Star Jenna Ortega revealed the only thing she hopes to see in a possible second season for Wednesday is her take a darker tone. More specifically, she hopes to continue on the path to becoming the anti-hero she is.

“I want it to be darker. I want her to get more into things and not play it safe because there are a lot of lines about her saving the school and whatever, but to me her main drive with the monster is competition. Kind of, ‘Man, how does this guy do that?’ I think I want it to be more of an anti-hero stream than a typical hero.”

We can definitely see where Ortega is coming from and have to admit that if we had the chance to explore these darker sides of Wednesday even more in a possible second season, we’d love to see her. Luckily, we should get that opportunity after the show’s success – it’s more a question of when we’ll see Wednesday Addams again than if we’ll see more of the character.

When could Wednesday Season 2 be out on Netflix?

Given the success of the first season of Netflix family drama Tim Burton Addams, we’d be shocked if Netflix didn’t make a big buck on the show and order additional seasons. Should a second season be streamlined, filming could potentially begin in 2023, and we couldn’t rule out a possible late 2023 release date Wednesday Season 2.

However, it’s also possible that we could see a longer break between seasons given the number of effects pouring into the show and the busy schedules of some of the show’s main actors. Netflix has managed to flip new seasons of some larger effects-heavy shows in the past, such as releasing new seasons of The Umbrella Academy Almost every year before the pandemic, filming was delayed.

Given the show’s success, we can’t imagine Netflix sitting on their hands for long, so let’s hope a second season arrives sooner rather than later. In the meantime, we’ll just Watch season 1 in an endless loop!
