While Jenna was unaware she was COVID positive at the time of filming, she shared that she woke up that day with COVID-like symptoms and took a test. “I felt like I’d been hit by a car and a little goblin was let loose in my throat and scratched the walls of my esophagus,” the actress told the publication. “They gave me medicine between takes because we were waiting for the positive result.”
When the results came back, she revealed she filmed the entire scene, which she famously choreographed herself, on her first day with COVID. Jenna tells NME that because she felt bad, the scene was “terrible to film”. She even asked if she could shoot it again after recovering from the virus, but tight production schedules didn’t allow for it.
Understandably, the revelation shocked many viewers, who voiced their criticism online. Provided in a follow-up statement NMEMGM, the production company behind the Netflix show, said that “strict COVID protocols were followed and as soon as the positive test was confirmed, production removed Jenna from the set.”
