Henry Cavill Not Returning to His ‘Superman’ Role: Statement – Hollywood Life +2023

It’s a new chapter for superman – just not the ones we expected. After announcing a return to the franchise, Henry Cavill gained weight Instagram on Wednesday 14 December to confirm that indeed he is not. “I just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Saffron and it’s sad news all” that Enola Holmes star, 39, wrote in an official statement to his 23 million followers on the platform. “I’m not going back as Superman, after all. After being told by the studio to announce my return in October ahead of their hiring, this news isn’t the easiest of news, but such is life.”

Henry then graciously relinquished the role and defended the decision. “The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that,” he said tudors actor further. “James and Peter have to build a universe. I wish them and everyone involved with the new universe the best of luck and happiness.” Most importantly, he added, Superman is alive regardless of the change. “Superman is still around,” he wrote in part. “Everything he stands for still exists and the examples he gives us are still there! It’s my turn to wear the cape, but what Superman stands for never will. It’s been a fun ride with you all, onwards and upwards.”

The shock seems to have been compounded by the fact that Henry made an appearance in a pointed cameo Black Adam, seemingly solidifying his re-entry into the role. However, some fans were less restrained in their disappointment. “How are you going to improve the DC with this reboot if you don’t even return as a man of steel?” lamented one follower. “The reboot hasn’t even started yet and it’s already flopping.”
