TikTok is an absolute guarantee when it comes to trends – new make-up hacks or fashion trends regularly land on our profiles. Just like with this beauty trend that Hailey Bieber is currently going viral.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re already a makeup pro or a complete novice, this makeup hack is for everyone. Instead of many small steps, contour, concealer or even blush are applied in one go and covered with foundation. Hailey Bieber is also a big fan of the trick, which she copied from her makeup artist Mary Phillips.

Hailey Bieber brings the underpainting trend to life

In fact, the trend started well before Hailey, with makeup artist Scott Barnes. But, as it happens with the flood of trends, he almost fell into oblivion. Thanks to Hailey Bieber, however, the underpainting trick is now experiencing a new high.

Underpainting: So easy and conjured up in no time

Why reverse the makeup steps? Simple: The make-up looks less artificial, the contours extremely light, but still emphasized. The face appears more radiant and natural.

The model is now sharing the exciting hack with her followers on TikTok. Hailey begins by contouring her temples and cheeks, then applies concealer to key spots like dark circles, nose and the corners of her mouth. She dabs the products in with a make-up sponge and then applies the liquid foundation with a brush. Et voilà: the glow of the world star is perfectly staged!

That’s why the makeup hack is so hyped

We totally get why this trend is going viral on TikTok right now, as the makeup finish is a lot more even and not cakey at all. How strong the make-up is is up to us. The more product you use, the more opaque it gets. The make-up look is therefore suitable both for a day make-up and for a full glam look.

The steps in detail: The order and the right products make the difference

The order in which the products are applied plays a crucial role here. Because we don’t start with the foundation as usual – instead we grab the concealer first. But before we start, here is a small but useful tip: It is best to only use cream products for the make-up look, as they are easier to blend and later provide a nicer finish.

Highlight the beauty of your face

Other TikTokers also show how it works. For example, beauty TikToker @scortezzbeauty: Grab your favorite concealer and apply the product under your eyes as usual. The concealer is also used on the bridge of the nose, in the middle of the forehead and on the sides of the nose. Then use either a beauty blender or a brush and gently work the product into your skin.

Let’s get bronzed

Then apply the Contour product. You use this above the forehead, on the nose and on the cheekbones. This is followed by the blush, which is placed on the cheeks. A little tip: The higher the blush is applied to the cheekbones, the more lifted and awake your look will look later.

Blend, blend, blend

Now grab your foundation and a fluffy makeup brush and put a little product on the brush. Then go over your face with the brush in a circular or stroking motion. The aim is for your make-up to blend with your base of contour, concealer and blush. Repeat this process a few times until you can no longer see any hard edges. Now all you have to do is fill in the eyebrows, apply mascara and accentuate the lids with an eye shadow – your perfect full make-up look is done!
