Get ready with Emma Myers for the “Wednesday” premiere +2023

Netflix take over the Addams family Franchise, WednesdayIt hasn’t even streamed a full week yet, but the series is already a hit. It’s a new take on the classic story of the creepy and creepy Addams clan, namely the sadistic, expressionless older sister Wednesday. Actress Emma Myers stars opposite Jenna Ortega as Enid Sinclair, Wednesday’s best friend at Nevermore Academy who happens to be a werewolf.

For the Netflix series premiere, Emma skipped the full moon werewolf transformation in favor of something far more glamorous and classy, and hit the red carpet in a stunning off-the-shoulder burgundy corset dress by Bazza Alzouman with a voluminous skirt. As it turns out, Emma did Nothing along with her onscreen character. “I’m not like Enid at all. She’s an extrovert. I’m an introvert,” she said Teen Vogue before the premiere. “She has high energy and I have low energy. I think the only thing we have in common is that we’re both optimists. But that’s the fun part of playing them. I become a completely different person.”

Emma shared that she grew up with the ’90s Addams family movies, The Addams family and Addams Family Values, which shaped her perspective on family and her expanded universe. “I didn’t know The Addams Family was originally a comic book until I auditioned for Enid,” she explained. “I had seen the original TV show clips, but my knowledge of The Addams Family came from the ’90s movies.”

When it came time to decide on a premiere look, Emma worked with stylist Amanda Lim, makeup artist Dana Delaney and hairstylist Bobby Eliot. “I created a Pinterest board of glamorous ideas that I liked,” Emma shared of the process. “Looks with the aura that I kind of wanted to give off. Then I sent it to Amanda and she did the brunt of the work.”

Maintaining her personal style at the high-profile event was important to Emma, according to stylist Amanda. “She had told me when we first met that she was drawn to the gothic romance that was made so iconic by great designers like Alexander McQueen and Zuhair Murad,” she explained. “While researching designers who would be thrilled to dress her for such an exciting and special occasion, I reached out to Bazza Alzouman and her PR team. It was obvious from the start that her aesthetic was at the core of how Emma had described her ideal premiere look.” Emma loved the dress and felt comfortable in it too – key to posing for countless cameras on the red carpet.

After settling on the dress, the glam team created a gently swept bob and subtle cat eye—a 2022 take on Audrey Hepburn’s classic ’50s Gamine style. “I mixed two Chanel waterproof liners, Brun Agapeand Eros to create a reddish-brown cat eye,” explained makeup artist Dana. “Then I added Chanel blush Rose Ecrin and Pink Explosion blends below the center of the lower lash line and down into the cheeks for a unique, ready-to-use blush placement.”

The hair look was also modern and unique. “We wanted the hair to feel effortless and undoable,” Bobby said. “Emma has the chicest bob and we wanted to show that and not do anything too fussy or finished.” Once the star was perfectly glam, she added a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti rhinestone platform heels that matched the dress perfectly, a sparkling black Emm Kuo clutch, some rings and a stunning choker necklace from Nicole Rose Jewelry, and voila! It was time to shine alongside her castmates – a group who think Emma is her favorite part Wednesday Experience. “I’ve never had a cast like this before. I love everyone in this cast very much,” shared Emma. “[It’s] definitely the highlight of this project.”
