One of the best parts about the holidays is reconnecting with old friends and alumni american idol winner Ruben Studard and runner-up Ton Aiken stopped by for a surprise performance The view on Monday December 12th. Dressed in festive sweaters, the couple made a lively appearance Donny Hathaways Classic “This Christmas” before chatting to the co-hosts.

After Clay and Ruben, both 44, finished their performance, the women complimented them on their holiday performance, and Clay announced that the couple was commemorating the fact that 2023 will be two decades since they both starred in the second season of have started american idol. “We are about to celebrate our 20th anniversary since our inception idol. So Ruben and I are off together to take the 20th anniversary tour across the country,” he said. “We will celebrate the last 20 years since we did this idol and the music we have to make and the friendships we have to make along the way.” Ruben also shared the tour dates on his Instagram.

Clay revealed they will actually be performing together later this season to celebrate the special anniversary. “We will be in the final of american idol this upcoming season. Exactly 20 years after our finale, so we’ll sing together at the finale,” he said. “And we’re on our way! So so many opportunities to see Ruben and Clay.”
