Georgia also contributed to a bit of Cher lore. “I think men are the coolest,” Cher said in a 1996 interview with Jane Pauley (h/d bustle). “But you don’t really need them to live. My mother said to me, “You know, honey, one day you should settle down and marry a rich man. I said, ‘Mom, I’m a rich man.’”

Cher helped her mother realize a childhood dream by releasing Honky tonk woman in 2013. The album, recorded in 1982, featured a duet with Cher entitled “I’m Just Your Yesterday”. “That’s what I think was really important for mom after she talked about making her dream come true,” Cher said HuffPost. “She calls me 50 times a day: “Oh darling, I love the new master of the one song; Oh honey’… everything with mom starts with: oh honey. We spoke to mum about what she thinks will happen with the special and she said: “What I really hope is that women know that there is no sell-by date. It doesn’t matter how old you are, you just never have to stop dreaming. You don’t have to give up dreaming because you’ve reached a certain age.’ So I find that amazing.”
