Seeing your mom on a billboard must be wild! Seeing your mother shirtless on a billboard – that’s a whole different story! Charlize Theron frankly about her daughters, Jackson10 and August, 7, reactions to her acting career and a recent sultry billboard, and it’s pretty understandable! “In their heads, they’re like, ‘We know you work, but we’re not 100 percent sure what you do.’ My younger one is like, ‘Oh my god mom, it feels like you can’t hold a job,'” Charlize shared The Hollywood Reporter. “And my older one, she’s a pre-teen now, so there are moments like we’re walking through an airport and [she sees me on a Dior billboard] and she’s just like, ‘Oh my god, you’re standing shirtless against the frigging wall, mom. This is so embarrassing. Put on a shirt!’ And I say, ‘Your college will pay for that!’”
The South African beauty added, “Basically, like any mother, I just want to impress her.” At the same time, Charlize remained incredibly humbled about her fame and impressive resume throughout the interview, despite appearing at the THR Women in Entertainment event with the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award honored. “I could be wrong, but I don’t think anyone I’ve done business with would say, ‘Oh, I don’t know her.’ I make it so clear when I meet someone, even if it’s a pitch to a streamer for a damn TV show, I don’t have to be an enigma. And I think that’s part of the wideness that makes me swear and be self-deprecating — because I don’t want to waste all my time making you think I’m that movie star,” she told the outlet.
Charlize went on to joke about her youngest daughter’s outfit choices, which the author says was “payback” for her sexy Dior billboard! “The other day I said to my little girl, my baby, who’s wild, ‘We’ve got to go to Target in 30 minutes, so get ready.’ And she came down the stairs in a friggin’ crop top. And I said, “No, no, no, no, no. Can you just put on a full shirt?” she recalled. “She got in the car and was upset. And I said, “Stop. Don’t.” She was 6 years old at the time and she just said, ‘Why is it so annoying for you the way I put it?’ And she was right, and sometimes you have to be able to look at a 6-year-old and say it : “You’re right. But if I showed you this outfit, you would die! It was about fringes.”
In an October 2022 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Charlize continued to talk about her relationship with her daughters, admitting that the two “mock” each other for their obsession with her. Real housewives. “I always say to my kids, ‘Just a little variety,’ and my little one says, ‘Are you going to watch the housewives again?'” she recalled. “And I’m like, ‘Yeah, that’s me … We’re going to watch a little bit [Federico] Fellini later.’”
