Carrie Underwood stuns in a suit at the 2022 People's Choice Awards +2023

Switch! Carrie underwood gave her style an unexpected twist on the red carpet.

The 39-year-old Before He Cheats artist arrived at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards in Santa Monica, California on Tuesday, December 6 in a dazzling suit. The Thom Browne ensemble, which consisted of a tailored blazer, button-down shirt and matching wide-leg pants, was covered in gold and silver flowers fringed with crystals. The Oklahoma native kept the glitter theme, donning dangling metallic earrings and shiny pointed-toe pumps. She also wore a series of rings and wore her hair in voluminous curls.

Underwood’s getup is a drastic change from the awards shows she’s worn in the past. The ‘Blown Away’ artist usually opts for princess-like dresses and sequin dresses that often show off her toned legs. At the 2022 Country Music Association Awards on Nov. 9, Underwood turned heads in a whimsical blue dress. The figure-flattering number featured a plunging neckline, corset bodice and layered fabric. The dress was finished off with a sultry high slit.

While we love Underwood in ball-ready attire, we’re just as obsessed with her take on the business-pro aesthetic—and wouldn’t mind seeing her in more pants looks in the future.

This year’s People’s Choice Awards proved to be a celebratory occasion for the Grammy winner as she took home the Country Artist of 2022 award – her 10th PCA win to date.

“So who was it? who was the killer Who should I accuse?” Underwood joked during her acceptance speech. “This award, well, this whole night, it’s all about the fans. I certainly only have the most incredible fans. You have been supporting me for many years, especially this year on the road. Thanks guys so much for all the love. What a wonderful early Christmas present. I can’t thank you enough. God bless.”

The hitmaker talked about the new sound billboard about the summer: “I wanted to have fun from the start. That was definitely mission number one. Some other albums took me a while to write before I figured out where the album was going.”

She added: “It has a lot of vintage shine. It’s not a solid throwback, but we have a few songs that have a little more 70’s feel to them and some that are in the 80’s pop world and some 90’s rock stuff and of course country. But we wanted music that was fun and felt good.”
