It’s a story as old as time, but it gets a new twist! Beauty and the Beast is being adapted in a new format to celebrate more than three decades since the release of Disney’s animated film. The upcoming ABC and Wonderful World of Disney special, titled Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration, coincides with the 30th anniversary of the timeless fantasy’s historic Academy Award nomination for Best Picture, the first time that an animated film was tapped into in that category.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, who helmed Crazy Rich Asians, HER (born Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson) will star in the upcoming reimagining of Disney’s beloved tale of lead character Belle.
