After two hospital stays Al Roker is finally on the way home! The beloved TV weatherman, 68, shared he was on his way out of hospital Instagram on Thursday December 8th. He smiled next to his wife Debora Roberts, 62 and daughter Leila, 24, on the way out of the hospital. He looked incredibly happy to be leaving after his long stay.
Wearing a green sweater for his alma mater SUNY Oswego in the photos, Al looked overjoyed to finally head home. In the caption, he thanked everyone who shared well wishes and support for him. “So incredibly grateful for family, friends, medical professionals, Today’s show Family and all your thoughts and prayers,” he wrote.
Along with the good news, tons of Al’s colleagues and fans shared positive news with him. Katie Couric with a series of heart emojis. His today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie also celebrated his return. “Sweet!! Right where you belong,” she wrote.
Just before returning home, Al posted a photo of a sunset on his Instagram and shared that he hopes to be discharged from the hospital soon. “If your mind slacks off a little, you can see that and recharge. God bless you all for all the prayers and well wishes to me and my family,” he captioned the post.
Al was hospitalized in November with a blood clot. He informed his fans in one Instagram Post after so many asked where he was. “Last week I was taken to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg which sent some clots to my lungs. After some medical strokes, I am so fortunate to be receiving excellent medical care and on the road to recovery,” he wrote
While receiving treatment, Al missed the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time in 27 years. His co-anchors Savannah and Hoda Kotb shared that they had missed him on the air, and when Hoda revealed that he had returned to the hospital the day after Thanksgiving, she shared that they called him during a break. “craig [Melvin] and I got a chance to FaceTime him from the parade and he gave us a big thumbs up. Nice to see Al,” she said. “He was pointing at his TV, so I know he was looking at it.”
