Good morning America Co-hosts TJ Holmes and Amy Robach were reportedly taken off the air after their cheating scandal erupted last week.
Per TMZABC News President Kim Godwin called the relationship an “internal and external distraction” during a call with executives, in which she said, “I want to say that while this relationship isn’t against company policy, I really do have it.” taken the last few days to think and work through what I think is best for the ABC News organization.”
She added: “I won’t talk about that, we won’t talk about it on this call until there’s more to say. I’m asking that we stop whispering in the hallways. You know, we can’t operate on gossip, speculation, and rumor. We have to focus on work.”
During the call TMZ reports that Godwin has encouraged colleagues to provide more information about the relationship between Holmes and Robach, telling them: “If you feel there is something management needs to know, you can always call Human Resources or, as I said, with one Managers speak to those you trust. If you think there’s something we need to know.”
The Daily Mail revealed the alleged affair on November 30, releasing photos of Holmes and Robach snogging in various places including a bar in New York City and a cottage in upstate New York over the past few weeks. After the revelation, the outlet claimed that Godwin knew about the relationship, but is now saying otherwise.
Congruent, page six reported that Holmes and Robach went to “extreme lengths” to hide their affair. At the time of reporting, Decider reached out Good morning America to a comment but received no reply.
Holmes and Robach married their respective partners in 2010 and are longtime friends, often teaming up for promotional posts on the show’s social media. They recently trained together for the New York City Marathon. After their relationship was exposed, both parties deleted their personal social media accounts and Robach was absent from the November 30 broadcast. The following day, both hosts co-hosted the talk show without addressing the controversy, much to the horror of fans.
page six reported that the co-hosts left their respective spouses during the alleged affair, which reportedly began in March The Daily Mail claims they began their romance in June.
Going forward, Stephanie Ramos and Gio Benitez are set to replace the two from today, while next moves are set to be further sorted out by ABC executives.
Holmes and Robach co-hosted the network’s lunchtime program, GMA3next to dr Jennifer Ashton since September 2020.
