Braden Lape has become one The voice Season 22 fan favorites. He has consistently demonstrated his skills with his performances throughout the season and is still in contention for the next season 22 winner. No matter what, Brayden has a bright future in music. He’s already that good at 16.
So who is Brayden Lape? He was just a regular high school kid before he broke out The voice. Here’s what you need to know about Brayden.
1. Brayden is a member of Team Blake.
Brayden did a cover of Niall Horans “This Town” for his blind audition. His performance has over 1 million views youtube. Blake Shelton was the only coach to turn over his red chair for Brayden. Camila cabello encouraged Blake to reach out to Brayden, calling the young singer Blake’s “secret weapon.” Brayden has since progressed through the other rounds of the competition to make it to the live shows and now the finals.
Brayden actually made Gwen Stefani Scream through the three-way knockouts with his moving cover of “Mercy.” Brett Jung. “Every time he comes on this stage, he’s taken giant steps,” Blake said loudly at the time ET. “So, I think once we get into the Lives, he might end up holding the trophy.”
2. Brayden is from Michigan.
Brayden hails from the small town of Grass Lake, Michigan. He currently attends Grass Lake High School. He is expected to graduate in 2025.
3. Brayden will return to high school afterwards The voice.
Ahead of the final results, Brayden revealed his plans afterward The voice is over. “My path is a bit different than the rest of these people. I still have to go back to high school. I’m only a sophomore so I need to finish my high school career,” Brayden told reporters, including HollywoodLife. “But I want to take this opportunity and run with her. I want to take advantage of the opportunities that arise from this. I co-wrote some songs Morgan Mylesand I’m going to take those out and hopefully continue to work with her because she was there before lives, even before she went through this long process, she was there for me.
4. Brayden loves sports.
When he’s not on stage, Brayden is usually out on the field or court. He plays football, basketball and baseball. He’s the quarterback on his high school football team.
5. Brayden began focusing on music during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“During the pandemic, I taught myself to play guitar and started singing a few covers,” the singer said Local Turns. “I’ve started playing smaller gigs in the last two years. I’ve written some originals on my own and also teamed up to write a few more songs. I plan to record and release music next year. Stay tuned.”
