5 Netflix shows we’re not sad were canceled in 2022 +2023

We’ve officially entered the final month of 2022, so now it’s time to take a look back at what a year it’s been for Netflix. This year, a lot of popular Netflix shows got renewed, which was great. However, there were also heaps of cancellations. And Netflix wasted no time when it came to canceling its shows. In all honesty, it seemed like shows were being canceled left and right all year long.

The first Netflix Original to drop in 2022 was the Latinx dramedy Gentified on January 13th. After two seasons, the streamer decided not to renew the show for a third season. Apparently, the second season didn’t show up in Netflix’s top 10 list at all. This was probably one of the reasons why Netflix, among other things, decided not to order another season.

After the cancellation of Gentified, it was as if a ripple effect of cancellations had set in. Throughout 2022 we saw the cancellations of Archive 81, raise Dion, Pretty smart, space forces, partner track, The Midnight Club and many other Netflix shows. And unfortunately, the streamer likely has a few more shows that it will be canceling by the end of the year.

While we were left heartbroken by some of the cancellations, we weren’t overly concerned about others. If you’re interested, we’ve shared our list of Netflix shows we’re not necessarily sad about canceling in 2022 below.

Netflix shows, we’re not sad, were canceled in 2022

Netflix shows

Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2

Destiny: The Winx Saga

Destiny: The Winx Saga was officially canceled on November 1st. The live-action adaptation begins with Bloom, a fire-powered fairy adjusting to life in the Otherworld. In the Otherworld, she attends a magical boarding school where she meets and befriends other fairies. With her new friends, Bloom must stop a looming threat intent on attacking the Otherworld.

Although the second season fared significantly better than the first season in terms of viewership, it still wasn’t enough to save the fantasy series. Netflix hasn’t come out and said why they decided not to renew the series, but we suspect production costs played a part in the decision. We don’t know how much it cost to make Destiny: The Winx Sagabut with all the special effects and the fact that it’s being shot on location in Ireland, it had to be a pretty penny.

Although the second season saw strong viewership, that’s not the only factor Netflix considers when deciding whether or not to go through with another season. The streamer usually factors in cost, viewership, and critical acclaim. So I guess when Netflix looked at all of those factors for season two, it wasn’t enough to justify another season.

To be honest, I didn’t feel comfortable at all when the show was cancelled. The first season was full of issues that I was hoping would be fixed in the second season. But once again the show fell short in my opinion. The number one problem is representation. However, I will say that the creative team tried to improve on this aspect, but it just didn’t work.

Another Life Season 3 - Netflix Shows

A different life

I’m sure a lot of people weren’t shocked A different life‘s cancellation at Netflix. The first season received mainly negative reviews from critics, which reduced the chances of a second season. However, Netflix decided to give the sci-fi series another shot due to positive viewer engagement. But when the second season was cancelled, there just weren’t any numbers on the streamer.

I would not say A different life is a bad show. It just couldn’t hold my attention. The continuity is terrible, it’s tropical-heavy and the cast was questionable. I’m sorry but some of the actors can’t act. The second season was better than the first but still poorly written. There are so many great space shows to watch. Don’t waste your time with a show that’s everywhere.

Netflix Shows - Cooking with Paris Season 2

Cooking with Paris

Cooking with Paris was so “not hot”, and apparently many others thought so too. As a result, the cooking show was one of the first Netflix shows to be canceled this year. On January 17, Netflix canceled the six-part series after just one season. Apparently the ratings weren’t good and not enough people watched it.

Do not get me wrong. I’m actually a Paris Hilton fan, though Cooking with Paris just wasn’t a good business move for the iconic socialite. I’m sorry but I have to be honest. I didn’t even get through the first episode. While I enjoyed watching Paris’ giddy character The simple lifeWatching her attempt to play the same character on her new cooking show wasn’t entertaining at all. However, I do hope that she and Nicole Richie team up and revive The simple life or do another show together in the future. I’ll definitely watch that!

space forces

On April 29, Netflix pulled the plug space forces after two seasons. We don’t know exactly why Netflix pulled the workplace comedy, but it’s most likely another case of low viewership. space forces was one of Netflix’s most expensive shows, so ratings and viewership played a big part in their decision. Reportedly, Season 2 didn’t last long in Netflix’s top 10 global list, so that didn’t bode well. This meant that not many people saw the second season.

As much as I like Steve Carell, space forces just wasn’t his best work. It had its funny moments, but not enough to keep me interested. Much of the humor was shallow, and some of the jokes seemed forced. I recommend watching or looking The office instead of this.

Netflix Shows – The Imperfects

The imperfections

The imperfections Premiered on Netflix on September 8th and immediately slipped under the radar for many people. The main reason was that Netflix barely marketed the show. However, I believe that even if Netflix had promoted the sci-fi series, it wouldn’t have been enough to save it.

To be honest, the show was poorly written and suffered from poor pacing. Also, the acting was terrifying at times, and there was no depth to any of the characters. If you are looking for a good sci-fi series with a similar plot, try watching outsider. This is the show The imperfections tried to mimic, but it completely missed the mark.
