Readers beware, you’ll be in for a shock: these goosebump tattoos will take you back to the good old days when RL Stein was our Stephen King.
At some point in our lives we have all thought about getting a tattoo.
Well, not only have these folks overcome the hesitation of, “Does it hurt to get a tattoo?” or “Is it really the right time?” They did a wonderful job with their choice of Gänsehaut, the stepping stone for children into the genre of horror novels. Inspired by RL Stein’s monsters, they have selected some awesome tattoos.
A total of 235 books have been published as part of the goose bumps series. They are full of stories about all kinds of monsters. As a kid we would often sit in front of a goosebumps book at night and my mind would start turning the black and white writing into the most terrifying monsters of all time, probably scarier than the pictures on the covers. Read on to find out what types of monsters have been chosen as tattoos and believe me when we say they really are some of the most inspired ink work we’ve seen.

Welcome to Horrorland
Remember what we said about forming a mental image of the monsters as a child? Well, this tattoo will surely make you reconsider. With such vivid colors, it’s almost like standing in front of HorrorLand. Not only does the liquid red writing on the entrance panel feel gory, but the oozing green monster is also terrifying, and the tree and crows in the background add a menacing tone. Rest assured, if you’re planning on scaring your friends with this, we’d say mission successful.
Black and white spooky mask
One of the scariest characters in the haunted mask.
This depiction of Carly Beth putting on the mask while drooling underscores the character’s bloodthirsty nature. Although done in black and white, the tattoo is nothing short of terrifying with those sharp fangs for teeth and glaring eyes.

In this one, the green ink used by the artist has been immaculately blended into the rendering of the already terrifying spook mask to make her image even more terrifying. Also, they managed to perfectly recreate the haunted mask as seen on the book cover, with its wrinkled green skin and hollow yellow eyes.

Well, anyone who has read the haunted mask story knows how to do it. No spoilers here though. This tattoo is a perfect combination of horror and cuteness. While the bloody knife, mask’s green spooky skin, and fangs scream murder and monsters, you can’t deny that Carly looks super cute in those pigtails and those anime black eyes.

A long-awaited crossover. A terrifying monster in an even more terrifying place, this tattoo depicts the Carly monster mask and the entrance to HorrorLand. The artist has used different colors to inking this tattoo leaving only the fear part to our imagination.
Slappy tattoo with his icy gaze
Arguably the scariest character in the goosebumps universe is Slappy the Living Dummy. This will probably scare even most adults.
This beautifully drawn tattoo really brings out the devil in Slappy, with a green light casting a foreboding shadow on his face. The best thing about the tattoo is how the artist was able to depict Slappy’s icy evil glare which combined with the smile and glowing goose bumps writing makes for a sight to behold.

This tattoo doesn’t have a demonic glow but it still looks pretty terrifying. The artist managed to capture Slappy’s iconic grin perfectly. It’s almost as if anyone watching this becomes obsessed in real life. The slightly matt coloring of the tattoo also fits the theme perfectly.
People possessed by monster blood
One of the fan favourites. monster blood.
This tattoo depicts two people being enveloped by the monster that is slowly eating them. You can see the monster blood sticking to the face of the person in front of you and slowly melting their skin while the person behind has already been devoured and worms are coming out of their skull. The mix of colors used by the artist brings out her pain, which is evident through the detailing of the eyes. The tattoo also comes with the hallmark of every goosebumps novel: readers beware.
The Venus Flytrap monster from Stay Out Of The Basement
An underrated character, the Venus Flytrap Monster has been featured in a number of books and made his debut in the book titled Stay Out of the Basement.
This tattoo has been painted with different shades of green with a patch of skin in the center for the hand. This is commendable for the level of detail alone: the monster hand and Venus flytrap heads. The artist didn’t even leave out the tendrils of the monster plant winding around the wrist.
Goosebumps, ft. Slappy The Dummy
Ah! The OG. This is probably the most universal tattoo for a fan who doesn’t like playing favorites. The green letters bring this tattoo to life, with a striking resemblance to every spine-tingling book cover of all time. Also, alongside the main tattoo, we have fan favorite Slappy. While not drawn as well as other tattoos that focus solely on slappy, it doesn’t draw attention away from the main attraction.
We hope this was a trip down memory lane when Stephen King’s novels were beyond our reach. When we buy up all the goosebumps and try to complete our collections. As for choosing a tattoo, you can choose any tattoo you like. If you want a spooky tattoo, Goosebumps is an excellent choice.
